Flags for Scholars

By subscribing to this project, you are helping improve the lives of some of Burleson's finest young scholars. Each year, the Burleson Rotary Club uses proceeds from this project to award more than $10,000 in scholarships.

The program

On six federal holidays each year, Burleson Rotarians post a United States flag on your property. At the end of the day, Rotarians collect the flag and store it until the next holiday. The six holidays are: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day.

Your Obligation

You pay $35 annually for the service. The Rotary Club will bill you, as a reminder, and we ask only that you reply promptly.

How does it work?

Rotarians install a tubular metal sleeve in your lawn. The sleeve top is approximately at the soil surface, below the level of your grass, and out of the way of your lawn mower blade. To identify the sleeve location, a small symbol is painted on the curb. Rotarians install flags by inserting the flag pole into the metal sleeve.
